What’s on your midi dress must-have list? For us, it’s a flattering cut, beautiful fabrics, an elegant neckline, and crucially, sleeves. And it seems we’re not alone in loving a frock that offers a little extra coverage, because John Lewis’s new AND/OR line, which ticks all of those boxes, is flying off the rails with unprecedented speed.
The exclusive collection is a run of five limited edition dresses created in in collaboration with Ibiza concept store La Galeria Elefante, inspired by bestselling shapes from the store, and perfectly captures the relaxed, bohemian chic that the brand is known for.
The most popular of the designs so far has proved to be the £195 Jody Star Maxi Dress, a shirred, A-line number with blouson sleeves and frilled neckline, which sold out completely in less than a week.
The four other dresses also have limited availability, and are expected to follow suit – especially as influencers with serious purchase swaying power, including Erica Davies, Katherine Ormerod and Debbie of The Fashionable Pan, have all been singing the collab’s praises on their respective profiles.
Each piece evokes a different mood – from the ethereal seventies vibe of the tiered Mexicana Fern Dress to the monochrome charm of the geometric Kimono Feather Print Dress – so whether you want a statement summer wedding look, a beach dress you’ll wear for decades or to bring a touch of free spirit to your city style, there’s a piece you’ll want to snap up sharpish.
Customers on the John Lewis’ own Instagram account have fallen particularly deeply in love with the blue and ivory paisley print design, with one declaring: ‘That blue is stunning for the summer’, and several others calling it ‘gorgeous’ and ‘beautiful’ in equal measure.
Although the price point is slightly higher than your average high street purchase (starting at £165, with a top end of £195), the quality of the pieces warrants the investment; think weighty, tactile cotton and stitching that’s built to last.
However, as the La Galeria Elefante styles are limited edition, you’ll need to make your purchase sooner rather than later, as a representative for the brand confirms to YOU that there’s (sob) no plans to restock…
