While a lot of doom and gloom naturally surrounded the first UK lockdown, one man managed to encourage the entire nation to get up and moving every morning with his charismatic, high energy and, most importantly, fun and doable live workouts. When schools closed back in March, Joe Wicks, aka The Body Coach aka the YouTube fitness sensation, started live-streaming his ‘PE with Joe’ workouts, but ended them in July as we eased out of lockdown.
But now, as England enters a second four-week lockdown starting from today, Joe has brought us the excellent news that his online PE classes will be back! He announced the news via his Instagram page, with the following message: ‘Guess who’s back with “Wake Up With Joe” 😀 I promised if we went back into a lockdown I would be here to help you get through it and I’m now committing to filming and sharing 3 new workouts a week until lockdown is over how ever long that takes,’ Joe wrote.
He continued: ‘They will go live Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6am on my YouTube channel starting on Mon 9th. This will not be LIVE workouts but pre-recorded short 15-minute energy and mood boosting workouts to help you stay fit and find some positivity, energy and help with your mental health. You can then choose to do the workouts at a time which suits you. I need this just as much as you. Our mental health is suffering but we can get through this lockdown together and come out stronger both physically and mentally’.
It’s fair to say that we’ve all missed leaping around our living rooms, encouraged by Joe’s infectious enthusiasm and words of encouragement, so this was music to our ears, and to many others too: ‘Huraaah!! Lockdown joy….it’s so nice to have the help for many that need it at this time’ commented food writer and chef Maunika Gowardhan. ‘You are a star Joe. It will help so many. Thank you’ commented another Joe Wicks fan, along with thousands of other thank you comments from Body Coach fans.
Get ready to Wake Up With Joe from Monday 9 November on The Body Coach TV YouTube channel.
