Jennifer Aniston’s make-up artist uses this trick to stop lipstick from bleeding

Jennifer Aniston always looks stunning on and off the red carpet – and while we may not have all of her fashion and beauty secrets at our disposal, a recent behind-the-scenes snap from her make-up artist means we can at least emulate her perfect nude lipstick look.

A-list make-up artist Jillian Dempsey shared a candid picture of Friends actress Jen, 49, using a rather unusual method to preserve her painted pout – sticking a sheet of blotting paper over her lips, and then adding a dusting of loose powder of the top of prevent the make-up from bleeding, smudging or fading.

‘This is how we prep for long lasting lipstick that doesn’t bleed. 👄,’ Jillian, who has also worked with the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Kirsten Dunst, Emilia Clarke and Kate Winslet explained alongside the photograph.

According to YOU’s beauty director Edwina Ings-Chambers, ‘blotting the lips is a common trick when applying lipstick as it helps to take away excess product thereby making it more even over the mouth and helping it to last longer – less slipping. Many artists will then dust with some translucent powder (often through the paper) to help to set the lipstick.

‘Many of us are used to performing this by almost biting a tissue between our lips –that’s the way most of our mothers showed us – but it’s better to do it as though you’re kissing the paper as this gives a more even finish across the whole lips (biting can often miss the corners of the mouth so you’re not leaving an even lipstick coverage). Blotting paper is preferable to a tissue as they can leave lint-y bits behind on lips.’

While Jillian didn’t disclose which lipstick she used to complete Jen’s look on this occasion, the star has said in the past that she’s a big fan of Charlotte Tilbury’s much loved K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Penelope Pink (£24).

‘I’m obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury’s lipsticks, they’re my new favourites,’ she told Harper’s Bazaar previously. ‘I use a lipstick and then put a gloss over the top. There is always a lip gloss and a concealer in my handbag.’
