Influencers are snapping up this £39.99 Zara dress

Still after that perfect throw-it-on-for-every-occasion summer dress? Enter Spanish staple brand Zara, who have just launched a functional frock that has sent fashion influencers into a frenzy.

The label’s new checked dress, which retails for a not-unreasonable £39.99, has been flying off the shelves since its recent launch on Zara website, and a number of bloggers have already shared snaps of their take on the round-necked dress.

It’s easy to see why the item has become an instant hit: its flattering sleeve length and wide A-line silhouette are perfect for floating through summer days in, whilst the button detail and waist-nipping belt add a touch of tailoring to keep things semi-smart.

Plus, it boasts every woman’s number one request when it comes to dresses: pockets.

In their model shots, Zara have paired the dress with a pair of strappy black sandals and playful oversized earrings, but now it’s made its way into the realm of Instagram, there’s plenty of inspiration for dressing the garment up or down.

Personally, we’ll be teaming ours with a basket bag (a la Brittany Bathgate, below) for daytime, and taking a tip from Zara’s statement earring style when the sun goes down.

This Zara dress may look set to be the high street steal of the season, but it’s had some serious competition in recent weeks.

Marks & Spencer have already sparked a sell-out with their affordable geo-print dress (proving that the belted midi is the shape to invest in). ‘For the colour confident shopper the Autograph Geo Print Maxi is a summer must have,’ a spokesperson for the store told Good Housekeeping. ‘The belted dress has been selling well since its launch online and in-store and is currently sold out in sizes 6-12 online.’

Earlier this year, Topshop also caused a stir with their polka dot midi dress, after blogger Erica Davies posted a picture of herself sporting the dress with a clever layered look for all weathers.
