It’s not often that fashion trends are supremely practical, so while gorpcore is around, we’re taking every opportunity to embrace it.
Gorpcore – an extension of athleisure – is the trend for an outdoorsy aesthetic including, but not limited to, technical outerwear, hiking boots and fleeces. The name comes from the acronym ‘gorp’, used by hikers to refer to the classic trail mix, ‘good old raisins and peanuts’.
Gorpcore began to rise through the fashion ranks last year and is now one of the hottest looks for 2022. Key gorpcore items would be a The North Face puffer jacket, Patagonia fleece and Teva sandals. Essentially, the higher the likelihood that it would appear on a camping trip packing list, the more gorpcore it is.
The good part is that, whether you love scaling mountains, enjoy a long weekend stroll or have never stepped foot on a trail in your life, everyone can get in on gorpcore – it’s cosy, comfortable and practical, making it perfect for autumn-winter dressing and excellent attire for chilly WFH days.
To get started with the gorpcore trend, these items should get you on the right track…
