The Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser has had a makeover

Every now and again a product comes along that answers a need we didn’t even know we had, but suddenly seems like a Very Important Buy.

The Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser is just such an item. You may have already seen it on social media – a sleek-looking machine that creates delectably smooth hot chocolate at the click of a button.

All you have to do is put chocolate flakes inside with your choice of dairy, plant milk or water, then press the button to make a velvety creation that will rival that of your local coffee shop.

Suddenly warming up milk in the microwave and plonking some hot chocolate powder in doesn’t seem to cut it, although at £99.95, the Velvetiser is definitely an investment piece, or an amazing gift for the most serious hot chocolate-heads in your life.

This would look extremely chic in any kitchen, so you can sip hot chocolate and feel swanky at the same time.

While this might be the ultimate Christmas gift for chocoholics, there are plenty of other treats from Hotel Chocolat this festive season. They range from advent calendars (including dark, caramel and white chocolate versions) to hampers, such as the rather showstopping Festive Feast Hamper, which at £300 would probably keep the recipient going for a full year.

There’s also some pretty divine looking wreath chocolate boxes. The Grand Wreath contains 84 chocolates – that’s a kilo’s worth – which we can all agree is quite the Christmas Day challenge.

At the more restrained end of the scale we’ve got the Little Wonders chocolate boxes, including cute gingerbread men and penguin-shaped chocolates. We’re also quite taken with the Sleigh Team boxes of reindeer chocolates, which look like the perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea in front of our favourite festive TV shows.
