From the chunky knits you see all over Instagram to the Katie Holmes bradigan-inspired twinsets the high street is awash with, the humble cardigan has had a resurgence in recent times. And for A/W 20, it’s got a new niche that the style set are loving just as much – introducing the embroidered knitwear trend.
Leading from the front as always is This Morning‘s Holly Willoughby, who just showcased a gorgeous round neck Zara cardi adorned with contrasting floral embroidery detail on Tuesday’s edition of the ITV show.
The lightweight piece has a dainty, delicate feel that will work on its own on warmer days and as an additional layer as winter draws in and things get cooler – a winner for all seasons, in our books. And what makes it even more appealing is its price, as it’s currently on the Zara website for just £25.99.
If you want to get the complete Holly look, you’ll be pleased to discover that her belted skirt is also a high street find, this time from H&M’s sophisticated big sister brand & Other Stories. While it’s slightly more expensive, coming in at £55, this does still mean you can replicate her entire outfit for under £100, provided you’ve got a pair of staple black heels tucked away in your wardrobe already.
Rather predictably, stock of Zara’s embroidered cardigan is already dwindling thanks to the well-documented Holly effect, but we’re crossing our fingers for a restock any day now (bookmark the page and refresh often to be in with a chance of snagging it).
While we wait, here are a few more embroidered knits you can shop that are still available, and would make just as welcome an addition to any autumn wardrobe.
