It seems like every other month H&M announces a new designer collaboration. Most recently, the high street brand revealed it would be teaming up with interior designer and businesswoman Iris Apfel on a collection to celebrate her 100th birthday. Less frequently, of course, comes a new season of clothes. And as much as we might not be looking forward to colder weather, we are ready to see what H&M has got in store for its autumn/winter collection.
H&M describe the collection as ‘Gorpcore meets sartorial style’. Gorpcore is inspired by the expression ‘good ol’ raisins and peanuts’, which is a colloquial way to describe trail mix. So with that in mind, it’s no surprise to see H&M has created a stylish hiker’s wardrobe of dreams.
This ‘practical yet fashion-forward’ edit brings a ‘twist of athleisure, function and tech to the modern wearer.’ Shoppers can expect a spectrum of earthy green tones, clean creams and contrasting navy and black pieces to capture the urban side.
What’s more, H&M has made an effort to be more eco-conscious for AW21. The majority of the collection is made with more sustainably sourced materials; H&M has worked with ECOVERO, organic and recycled fabrics to create a ‘selection of versatile pieces that bring a contemporary edge to the classic countryside aesthetic’.
Key pieces include a foldable recycled polyamide waterproof anorak that can transform into a bag, while the recycled polyester jumpsuit and turtleneck bibs can be layered with any piece. There’s also a 100 per cent recycled polyester padded vest and oversized hoodie pullover that mimic contemporary but comfortable 90s street style.
Shapes of the clothing are adjustable, supportive and layer-able so you can make the most out of what you’re wearing. Plus, if you’re a dog owner, you’ll be pleased to know the collection also includes coordinating dog accessories, quilted and knitted dog coats, and a quilted dog bag. So you and your pooch can match!
The collection is available to shop in stores and online now, so we’ve rounded up our top picks for you…
