Now more than ever, sustainability in fashion is an important factor in our buying decisions. We’re all aware of the impact our purchases have, in terms of the environment and ethical accountability. Many brands are doing whatever they can to support more eco-friendly, sustainable shopping habits, such as Kitri, who are only making what they sell from the fabric they already own.
The latest high end brand to make a move is Hill & Friends, who have introduced Loveworn, a service that will sell used bags by the brand for a fraction of their regular cost.
The new platform is already live, and is kicking off by stocking a selection of founder Emma Hill’s own personal collection that buyers can snap up for less.
A new bag from the brand can set you back anywhere up to £795, yet the re-sale options start at £175 for a smaller piece. Each bag is rated on a scale of ‘lightly loved to utterly obsessed,’ which reflects its level of wear. Most of Hill’s bags on sale now are considered ‘lightly loved’.
The platform plans in future to connect enquiring shoppers with existing customers to encourage second-hand sales and trades.
Speaking about her range of Loveworn bags online, Hill said: ‘I love them all so much and so it’s been difficult to part with them however, I am looking forward to sending them off to their next home and onto the net part of their journey.
‘Each one of my bags whilst pretty much in pristine condition has been deeply loved and I am hoping that their new owner gets just as much joy out of them as I have!’
