It’s no secret that Helen Mirren looks pretty bloomin’ fantastic right now; from her chic ensembles to her amazingly luminous skin, she’s the ultimate poster girl for looking amazing at any age.
And we suspect at least some of that reputation might be thanks to her ongoing partnership with beauty giant L’Oréal, who she’s worked with for the past six years, and has just partnered with once again for the launch of a new Age Perfect campaign.
Speaking to Allure at an event in Beverly Hills to celebrate the arrival of the L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect make-up line, Helen revealed some of the products she’s fallen in love with during her time on the brand’s ambassador team.
During the chat, she named one of her top staples as ‘this one [product] called L’Oréal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Daily Moisturiser’, explaining that it gives her a glow even when she’s not wearing any base products such as foundation or concealer.
‘If you don’t feel like wearing a lot of make-up, just put on a little bit of that, a mascara, and maybe some lip colour,’ she added.
The youth-enhancing day cream, which is enhanced with Imperial Peony, uses rosy pigments to revive skin’s natural flush, giving a brighter, more vibrant complexion. If it’s good enough for Helen, it’s certainly good enough for us, and as with most of the line’s offerings, it’s also very reasonably priced.
The only downside is that the star’s pick is a US formula that isn’t widely available on our shores – but that hasn’t stopped us from hunting it down.
UK customers can order the little pot of wonder on Amazon, where the prices in dollars converts to £17.73 at the time of writing. There’s £4 shipping to consider as well, but considering that would only bring your total to around £21, it’s a price you may still want to pay to have a Mirren-approved formula in your arsenal.
Allure also quizzed Helen on her hair, and in particular, her decision not to dye her sleek platinum bob. ‘I was always too lazy to colour my hair,’ she responded. Aside from the one brief moment she went over to the pink side, ‘I just couldn’t be bothered, honestly.’
Now there’s a beauty mantra we can get on board with.
