Clare Griffin, Buyer for Lighting at Habitat also explained why she thought the style had taken off so spectacularly: ‘We’ve seen sales of ceramic lamp bases more than double in the last few months at Habitat, and ceramics are now our fastest growing material in the table lamp category,’ she said.
‘Our designs Lantana, Dascia and Calla are now overtaking many of our iconic bestselling designs that have been our top sellers for years, and shows that customers are looking for more unusual shapes and finishes that make these lamps decorative objet in their own right and look just as good “on” or “off”.’
‘The reactive glazes too – as with our dinnerware collections – are proving popular with customers as this means that each ceramic lamp base is completely unique, so for a high street price you are getting a one-off design for your home.’
