Even though we’re in lockdown, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t continue to look after our skin properly, even if you are wearing less make-up than usual. In fact, you could say it’s the perfect time to assess our beauty routines and try out some new skincare tips, tricks and hacks.
But we all know the world of skincare can be a bit of a minefield, with thousands of products on offer promising the earth and no way to know which ones work other than to spend your hand-earned money and see for yourself.
So when a celebrity-endorsed dermatologist comes along and offers us a fantastic little nugget of skincare wisdom that doesn’t require us to spend any extra money, nor spend hours slathering various different lotions and potions all over our faces, we sit up and listen.
Having tended to the skin of celebrities such as Lili Reinhart, Demi Lovato and Cindy Crawford (to name a few), Renée Rouleau is a supremely reputable name in the world of dermatology. She knows a thing or two about getting skin red carpet ready, hence why so many beauty enthusiasts hang on her every word. Her blog is full of brilliant tips and tricks on achieving perfect skin, but one nifty hack Renée swears by in particular is something everyone can so easily incorporate into their existing beauty routine.
Dubbed ‘the golden minute’, it refers to the 60 second window of time straight after getting out the shower, when ‘your bare skin is most vulnerable to dehydration through a process called osmosis,’ Renée explains. ‘You have a 60-second window before moisture evaporation will occur.’
The dermatologist recommends taking advantage of this valuable short window of time to apply a product that will lock in moisture. ‘After washing the face and patting dry with a towel… Apply a toner that will keep that moisture in before applying serum or moisturiser.’
Doing this will apparently ensure your skin stays hydrated and glowy all day long. The more you know…
