Cast your mind back to February, when actress Meghan Markle was making her first official joint appearances with new fiancé Prince Harry, following their engagement announcement the previous November.
From the very start, the duchess-to-be wowed royal watchers with her style picks – and amongst the standouts was a rather stunning blue and green Burberry tartan coat, which Meghan chose for the couple’s trip to Edinburgh.
For months, we’ve lusted after the look, but lamented the £1,995 price tag as way out of our reach. That was, until we saw F&F at Tesco’s latest autumn clothing drop, which boasts a coat that looks incredibly similar to Meghan’s, for a mere fraction of the price.
F&F’s navy tartan coat features an almost identical tartan print, along with double-breasted button detail and generous pockets on either side. Best of all, it’s set to retail for just £39 – affordable for a new winter coat by any standards, but a staggering £1,956 less than the Duchess of Sussex’s designer version.

Now for the important bit – the coveted F&F coat is due to arrive in stores from next week – so the next time you head to Tesco, you know what to add to your trolley (move quickly – we can see this one shifting fast).
Once you’ve made the investment, you can take style inspiration from Meghan and layer it over a black polo neck jumper and flared black trousers. The yellow gold engagement ring with diamonds sourced from Botswana and the late Princess Diana’s private jewellery collection, however, may prove a little harder to emulate…
Burberry has been one of Meghan’s go-to brands for many years both on and off screen – during a previous interview with Glamour, the former Suits actress revealed: ‘I wear a lot of Burberry on the show, and I wear a lot of Prabal [Gurung], because Rachel’s whole aesthetic is someone who comes from money and has a real classic design sensibility.’
