When it comes to spring summer fashion trends for 2021, we know that joyful dressing, straight-leg jeans and gingham are all firmly in. But what about the latest Etsy jewellery trends? The online marketplace has scoured its search data to find out exactly what we’ll be accessorising our outfits with this season…
The biggest Etsy jewellery trends:
Searches for fidget rings (rings with a moveable element to ‘fidget’ with) are up 469 per cent on Etsy. They’re often recommended for easing anxiety, something we could all do with after the year we’ve had.
Bandanas and headscarves
Reminiscent of old Hollywood starlets and ‘90s style icons, headscarves and bandanas are making a comeback this year according to Etsy, with searches for headscarves on the platform up 104 per cent and searches for bandanas up 82 per cent.
Another of the Etsy trends is that the early 2000s are seeing a resurgence across the board – from fashion to home decor trends – and Etsy sellers are reinventing the nostalgic styles with modern twists. Etsy has seen a 1,360 per cent increase in searches for smiley face jewellery, 141 per cent rise in searches for butterfly jewellery, 124 per cent surge in searches for daisy jewellery and a 59 per cent increase in searches for mood rings.
Also playing into the Y2K trend, shoppers are embracing maximalist rings as their newest statement-making pieces, with searches for chunky rings up 474 per cent and statement rings up 65 per cent.
Just like in home decor, jewellery has gone all squiggly this season. Searches for wavy, curvy and squiggly jewellery are up 76 per cent.
Perhaps a slightly more surprising trend is padlock jewellery. Perfect as a standalone piece or layering option, padlock pendants are showing up everywhere from necklaces to charm earrings: searches for padlock jewellery are already up 85 per cent and Etsy predicts that the trend is just taking off.
All percentanges are based on Etsy searches over the last three months compared to the same time period last year.
