We’ll be the first to admit that we’re a sucker for a good dupe.
Whether it is Aldi’s plethora of beauty products – from its famous take on the classic Jo Malone candle to its versions of Chanel’s beloved Coco Mademoiselle and Chanel No5 – or Marks & Spencer’s attempt at replicating Meghan Markle’s popular Victoria Beckham dress. We simply cannot get enough!
That’s why, we were all ears when we found out last year that budget beauty brand Essence, which is stocked in Wilko stores and online at justmylook.com, had their own dupe of Charlotte Tilbury’s renowned lip liner, Pillow Talk.
However, unlike the original, which is priced at £17, you can get your hands on the Essence version for just £1. Yes, really!
The shade ‘Lost in Love’ was particularly likened to Pillow Talk, with customers insisting that the products are near identical, only with a huge difference in price, of course.
Having since sold out, the cruelty-free and vegan-friendly lip liner is now back in stock and Essence has completely relaunched the popular product. Previously called the Soft Contouring Lip Liner, it’s now known as the Soft & Precise Lip Pencil and comes in an even bigger range of 16 shades, but still retaining that winning formula and super low price point of £1 each.
According to Essence, the budget lip liner is perfect for contouring your lips and boasts a silky finish for velvety-matte results, just like Charlotte Tilbury’s signature product. It will also help create a standout look, thanks to its highly-pigmented colour.
Reviewing the dupe for Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk lip liner, one beauty blogger wrote: ‘Every glowing review about Essence’s lip liner was spot-on. It strikes just the right balance between waxy and creamy, so it easily draws a clean line without skipping or pulling on my lips. And it stays on for hours. The shade is also a flawless match for my lips, which makes it perfect for overlining without looking obvious.’
She added: ‘If I want a more matte look, I’ll overline and then fill in my lips using just the pencil—that’s how good it is. This £1 pencil is the best lip liner I’ve tried.’
While another said: ‘I love this pencil so much, I buy it in bulk and keep one in every bag.’
Get your hands on it while you can!
