There’s just a few months to go before the nation celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Queen Elizabeth II has broken many a royal record in her time, and will be the first British monarch to reign for an impressive 70 years.
To mark the special occasion, not only do we get an extra bank holiday in June (woohoo!), but there will be street parties, musical performances, special marches and parades to help us all celebrate.
The long jubilee weekend will offer ‘an opportunity for communities and people throughout the United Kingdom to come together to celebrate the historic milestone. The four days of celebrations will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on The Queen’s 70 years of service,’ reads the royal family website.
What’s more, many brands are launching limited edition items for the Platinum Jubilee, including Emma Bridgewater.
The quintessentially British homeware designer has launched a lovely range for the event, including mugs, plates, tins and tea towels. As you might expect from Emma Bridgewater, it’s full of bold colours, statement fonts and designs. Many of the homeware items feature the slogan ’70 glorious years’ and prints of a crown. But if you plan on using them on more than one occasion, you may prefer the simple yet bold Union Jack flag mug.
Prices start from £10 for a round tin tray and go up to £22 for a mug, so you can pick up what will probably become a prestigious collectors item without breaking the bank.
