Jewellery brand Edge Of Ember has designed a collection of five bracelets, with proceeds from the sales going towards two charities that support anti-racism in the UK and the US.
In the UK, 100 per cent of the profits from sales of the bracelets will go towards The Red Card Organisation, which is an educational charity dedicated to anti-racism. In the US., the money will go to the Black Women’s Health Imperative, which targets the most pressing health issues that affect Black women and girls.
Edge Of Ember conceived the collection during lockdown, in order for the bracelets to ‘be a symbol of our individuality and a re-ignition of human connection as we gradually emerged from quarantine.’
‘Then we, and the rest of the world, witnessed more Black lives taken at the hands of the authorities, as a result of systemic racism in our society,’ the brand explained. ‘It angered and disturbed us, left us struggling for words. We wanted to learn more and find out how we could do more, as doing nothing simply was not an option.’
‘We will dedicate this collection, that celebrates diversity, to the Black Lives Matter movement,’ they concluded.
The brand wishes to spread the important message that we are ‘stronger together,’ and that we will ‘continue to grow and learn with each other, and help change things for the better.’
The bracelets cost £38 each and come in five colours: red, pink, blue, yellow, and turquoise. You can buy them at Edge Of Ember’s website to help support the BLM movement. Some are in stock currently, while others are available to pre-order, and will be shipped next month in July.
