Last month, cult skincare brand Drunk Elephant finally launched in the UK following a highly anticipated wait and needless to say, beauty lovers across the nation (us included) were over the moon.
However, things slightly soured when UK customers were left unimpressed by the brand’s price tags, which all turned out to be significantly higher than their US counterparts. For example, products sold for $80 came in at £80 here, which makes a pretty big difference once you consider exchange rates.
But after facing some criticism, Space NK – where the brand is being stocked in the UK – announced that Drunk Elephant would be resolving the issue by slashing the prices to match the original, US value.
In a statement, the company revealed that they would be ‘adjusting its Drunk Elephant prices accordingly’ and that Space NK customers who have purchased Drunk Elephant products in stores or online using a debit card, credit card or PayPal will be automatically refunded the price difference within 28 days. Hurrah!
Alexia Inge, founder of Cult Beauty – where Drunk Elephant is also stocked – quickly followed suit, announcing that Cult Beauty would be doing the same.
‘It’s quite a process after three weeks of sales so please bear with us. We will make sure everyone is refunded the difference in the next month. I’m really glad Drunk Elephant decided to do this. It’s the right thing to do to give us Brits price parity with the rest of the world, she explained, in a comment left on the post shared by Estee Laundry’s Instagram account.
