Drew Barrymore reveals the £16 spot treatment she can’t live without

We all suffer from the occasional breakout on our face, and even celebrities are not immune to a spot or two.

Drew Barrymore has shared her experiences with spots with New Beauty magazine, explaining her routine as a teen did not help, and that she still gets blemishes at age 44.

‘When I was a teen, I washed my face with a bar of clear vitamin E soap. Nothing. Moisturisers always broke me out. They still do on my chin. My chin is like a completely different neighbourhood on my face, and you don’t go there after dark.’

However, luckily for us, the star shared her go-to treatment to banish spots and deal with the problem head on. And while there are many expensive options out there, Drew uses  the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel, which costs a mere £16.

‘I just spot it on any arriving friend from out of town in the form of a zit and say, ‘Go back to where you came from,’ she comically explained.

Clinique’s spot gel contains a hefty dose of salicylic acid, an ingredient which is known to be great for clearing up acne. It also exfoliates and helps with clogged pores, making it an amazing acid to use on bad skin days. The product also contains witch hazel, which is a great natural remedy for congested complexions and spots.

The gel is clearly popular, as it’s currently out of stock on retailers such as John Lewis. You can buy it direct from Clinique, however, where it boasts a 4.4 star rating with customers. Some even hailed the product as ‘a miracle in a bottle.’

The product is also fairly versatile, as it can be used both all over skin in a thing layer, or as a targeted product on singular spots.
