YES YOU CAN: Dress up your gingham

Fashion director Shelly Vella shows you how.

If there’s one print that says balmy summer day it’s gingham and, yes, while its cute checks are youthful, they are not exclusively for the young. For a classic look, opt for a black and white print; however, my money is on the pretty pastel ginghams cropping up on pussybow blouses, sweeping dresses and cropped, wide-leg trousers, which look as good on a beach as they do with heels and a chic blouse.
