Infidelity is a universal thing – affairs can happen no matter where you live in the world. However, in the UK, one particular town has been labelled as the ‘cheating capital’, and is home to the highest number of cheaters in the country, according to new research.
A survey conducted by Ashley Madison, a dating website for married people (yes, apparently that is a thing) has revealed that Portsmouth is the city with the most cheaters. The Hampshire town came out on top in The Infidelity Hotlist for 2019, which consists of 15 UK cities.
It was closely followed by Coventry, which placed second, and Bradford, which ranked third, while other destinations in the West Midlands including Stoke-on-Trent and Wolverhampton were also included in the top ten. Surprisingly, the country’s capital London did not make it into the top ten, though it wasn’t far off coming in at number eleven.

Christoph Kraemer, the Managing Director Europe for Ashley Madison, explained that the overall findings from the survey act as further evidence that cheating happens everywhere.
‘While most would assume that bigger cities produce more cheaters per capita, this data shows us what we were already aware of; infidelity lives everywhere,’ he said. ‘Seeing a place like Portsmouth that’s more well known for being the birthplace of Charles Dickens than its nightlife, beat out a fast-paced and transient locale like London, just reinforces that cheating isn’t contingent on a big population; it happens in cities big and small.’
Ashley Madison is based on Toronto and is targeted at people that are married or already in relationships but are seeking out an affair. The dating agency has 60 million accounts in 53 different countries, with a whopping 86 percent being men, as reported by Pretty52.
