Charlotte Hawkins just wore the River Island jacket that keeps selling out

The ongoing puff sleeve trend shows no sign of going anywhere fast – which is why, like Charlotte Hawkins, you can afford to look to outerwear as well as jumpers and blouses for your autumn wardrobe updates.

This weekend, the Good Morning Britain star arrived for her job as host of Classic FM’s Sunday afternoon slot wearing the puff sleeve River Island jacket that’s been selling in double quick time this season.

When Charlotte shared a snap of the outfit on her Instagram account, it didn’t take her followers long to compliment the now-iconic piece: ‘Love the denim jacket, Charlotte,’ said one, while another identified it as ‘the lust at first sight jacket’.

But the presenter and her fans aren’t the only ones who’ve fallen head over heels for the buy. According to the brand, the £50 item has sold out completely multiple times since landing on its website, and 2,000 more were sold in the first 48 hours of it being re-released.

In fact, the versatile shape has proved to be so popular that it’s prompted River Island to bring out a black denim version, as well as dusty pink and tan options in corduroy as well.

Charlotte layered her original blue number over a white tee and chic Closet London midi skirt, which incidentally is on sale for £35 down from its original £58 price tag right now.

However, if you head to the tagged photos on River Island’s own Instagram page, you’ll find endless style inspiration from customers who’ve already got their hands on the coveted cover-up.

Wear yours over your summer maxi dresses for a more autumnal take, cosy it up with a roll-neck jumper or take a leaf out of RI’s styling book and team it with co-ordinating jeans for double denim that’s a definite do.

Whatever you do, just don’t leave it to the last minute to add it to your basket, or Charlotte’s listeners might just beat you to it.
