CeraVe products have become increasingly popular in the past year, particularly throughout lockdown — and it’s easy to see why. The stripped-back brand from the U.S. uses uncomplicated formulas suitable for sensitive skin types but still incorporates trending ingredients like salicylic acid and hyaluronic acid. It’s also well-loved thanks to its commitment to maintain healthy skin barriers through essential ceramides.
The last year has seen CeraVe take centre stage on apps like TikTok, where the brand has been praised for its line of products. The SA Smoothing Cleanser with Salicylic Acid in particular received a lot of hype. This has been reflected in its sales with Boots revealing that in 2020, sales of CeraVe increased by 321%.
Not only that, but CeraVe also took the crown for the most searched for skincare products; according to Boots’ beauty trend report 2021, CeraVe’s Salicylic Acid Smoothing Cleanser and Foaming Cleanser were the most searched for facial skincare products on boots.com in 2020 in its entirety.
Boots puts this success down — in part — to our new-found approach to normalising skin texture and letting natural skin shine through while in lockdown, during things like video calls. They found that 25% of consumers reported feeling comfortable looking natural on video calls, leading to increased sale in certain skincare and other makeup products like lightweight foundations.
As well as Boots’ most searched-for CeraVe cleansers, the range has also become popular for its moisturisers, hand cream, and eye cream, which has received rave reviews. In fact, the little tube racked up over 1,400 reviews on its Amazon page, with fans praising its ability to soothe sore and itchy eczema like a dream.
