Cameron Diaz is coming out of retirement for a new Netflix comedy

Cameron Diaz formally confirmed her retirement from acting in 2018, and while we can still keep up with her on Instagram and as a guest on various TV shows, she tends to keep a pretty low profile… until now.

Fans of the Hollywood star will be pleased to know she’s coming out of retirement to star in a new Netflix action comedy, titled Back In Action. Yes, it’s very fitting. There’s very little we know about the film at the moment, apart from it being led by Seth Gordon (the director of Horrible Bosses).

The news was broken by fellow Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx, who shared a voice message conversation he had with Cameron Diaz, discussing her return to acting for the Back In Action movie.

The pair will reunite for the upcoming film, having previously worked together on the 2014 Annie remake. ‘Thanks for calling – I’m so anxious right now. I’m like pacing the room,’ Cameron says in the message. ‘I feel excited but I don’t know how to do this, you know?’ she continues.

Jamie Foxx then adds American Football player Tom Brady into the call, who famously retired from the NFL earlier this year, only to rejoin the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 40 days later.

According to Variety, Jamie Foxx is an executive producer of the film and production is expected to begin later this year. On her Instagram stories, Cameron shared his post, writing: ‘@iamjamiefoxx only you could get me back in action!! I can’t frickin wait, it’s gonna be a blast!’

Earlier this year, the former Charlie’s Angel opened up about how she’s become like ‘a wild animal’ since she stopped acting eight years ago. ‘I literally do nothing. I never wash my face,’ she revealed to Michelle Visage on a podcast. Regardless, we can’t wait to have Cameron Diaz – literally – back in action.
