Known for bringing some of the biggest blockbusters to life – including Romeo & Juliet, Grease and Moulin Rouge – this is a new direction for the immersive entertainment company, who are addressing the increased demand for Netflix during lockdown along with our collective obsession with the hit series.

Secret Cinema is teaming up with production partners Fever and Netflix to take us back to the 1800s and let us experience the magic of Bridgerton for ourselves with an immersive ball experience hosted by none other than Her Majesty herself (that is, if the rumours are true). Unlike previous events, no actual film will be screened; there will instead be moments from the first series of Bridgerton shown via The Lumiere Brothers’ ‘Incredible Moving Light Show’.

‘From casting and costumes, to soundtrack and set design, Bridgerton has pushed boundaries and we’re excited to take this even further by bringing the scandalous world to life. This is an immersive experience that marries 1800s London with modern day special effects, while characters from Bridgerton move freely through the world, interacting with guests,’ the experience’s creative director, Matt Costain, told the Evening Standard.

Bridgerton, the Regency-period drama that set screens alight over Christmas last year, follows the lives of debutante Daphne Bridgerton (played by actress Phoebe Dynevor) and the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page) as they navigate the social season. With just the right dose of escapism, it’s had fans hooked from the start and now, this November, we can all get a taste of the glitz, glamour and gossip of the much-loved hit series with the Bridgerton Secret Cinema event. Transporting us into the world of ‘the ton’, the event will see a magnificent ballroom and string quartet playing contemporary music, where guests will have their debut into high society to find their perfect partner.

On why Secret Cinema chose Bridgerton specifically, Head of Experiences at Netflix, Greg Lombardo, said to HELLO!: ‘Shondaland transported Bridgerton viewers into the Regency era in a way that was so splendidly immersive and delightful, we all felt we were there. As fans continue to seek more ways to experience this magnificent world, we are excited to bring the ball to life with the fine touch of our partners Secret Cinema and Fever. An unforgettable evening, this grand live event is emblematic of the authentic and unique ways we are looking to expand the Bridgerton-verse.’

In true Secret Cinema style, all details, including the venue, are being kept hush-hush until further notice, but the event will definitely be taking place in London. Tickets for the Bridgerton Secret Cinema event will go on sale on 6 July at 10am, with prices starting at £39 – join the waitlist to be one of the first to get your tickets to the event of the season.
