Everything we know so far about Bridgerton season 3

The second season of Bridgerton finally landed on Netflix earlier this year, after fans waited for what felt like an eternity for the next dose of the period drama. The season certainly didn’t disappoint, as we watched Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma’s intense love story unfold, and now we’re itching for more.

Before season 2 was released, Netflix confirmed Bridgerton had been locked in for season 3 and 4, too. Now, the streaming giant has confirmed season 3 will focus on the love story between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton. YAY.

News of the storyline was revealed on the opening night of the streaming service’s FYSEE Space event, where Nicola Coughlan (aka Penelope Featherington) sat on the panel.

Nicola was asked what viewers could expect of the new Bridgerton series, to which she replied: ‘Like Lady Whistledown, I have been keeping a secret for quite some time and I can confirm to you all that season three is Colin and Penelope’s love story.

‘I have kept that secret since two weeks into season two. This is the first time I am saying it here.’

The first two seasons followed the same storylines as the original novel series by Julia Quinn. However, the third book tells the story of Benedict Bridgerton’s love life, rather than that of Penelope and Colin.

As for the cast, we can expect to see most of the familiar faces return except Anatomy of a Scandal actor Hannah Dodd is replacing Ruby Stokes as the role of Francesca Bridgerton. Ruby has had to leave the series due to landing a lead role in the Netflix show Lockwood & Co.

When will Bridgerton season 3 be released?

Unfortunately, we think we’ll have a long wait before we get any inkling of when the third series will land on Netflix. Stay tuned for all the updates…
