These are the most searched for skincare products at Boots right now

New sales data from high street giant Boots reveals we are focusing on and investing in our skincare more than ever before in 2020.

Thanks to months of lockdown, and maybe looser purse strings for some since holidays were cancelled and daily travel expenses are a thing of the past (for now), it seems we as a nation have taken the opportunity, and possible extra funds, to focus on our skincare.

‘We’ve seen a big demand for skincare over the past few months’, says Joanna Rogers, Trading Director and VP of Beauty at Boots (via a LinkedIn post). ‘Since the pandemic, customers have become more focused on investing in cost-effective products that are right for their skin type and deliver results.’

Boots predict that customers have used the time throughout lockdown to trial and test more skincare products to understand what’s right for their skin type, often opting for quality over quantity: ‘We know our customers want value for money when it comes to skincare, and this doesn’t always mean shopping on a budget,’ added Joanna.

Other factors at play here might include more frequent face mask-wearing causing spots, or maskne, forcing people to take better care of their skin to reduce outbreaks as much as possible. Additionally, changing up your skincare routine can sometimes cause an outbreak before your skin settles down again, so for the many people still working from home, knowing that they won’t have to face the office with an inflamed face could be encouraging them to experiment with new products.

The data also revealed some other key insights into the world of skincare at Boots: face masks (the skincare kind, not the fabric kind) is the retailer’s fastest growing skincare category, followed by moisturisers and then cleansers.
