Since the roadmap out of lockdown was revealed by Boris Johnson, lots of us have been thinking about summer and where we can and cannot holiday. While we can’t yet be sure whether international travel is on the cards, what looks as if it will be back on the cards is a UK staycation.
If you’re looking for something a little different to the usual country hotel, bed and breakfast or city-break, however, we would like to suggest a treehouse escape.
Don’t worry, we have done the hard work for you and narrowed it down to the very best UK treehouses below, all you have to do is book your annual leave…
The best UK treehouses to book now:
Luxury hotel Chewton Glen’s wonderfully unique Treehouse Suites are the crème de la crème of treehouses. From 12 April, the 14 luxury Treehouse Suits will become sky-high, self-catering escapes. That’s right, suspended 35 feet above the ground in the New Forest, each self-contained Treehouse at the luxury country hotel is pivoting to self-catering with guests able to order straight to their door, wander to the Walled Garden for a pizza from the outdoor wood-fired oven or even cook up their own meal in the kitchen.
Each suite also comes with its own terrace and hot tub for panoramic views of the canopy and beyond.
By the Wye
Tucked away in the Brecon Beacons National Park is By the Wye. With each safari ten elevated on stilts in the tree canopy to make the most of the views, expect nostalgia for childhood camping trips but with a couple more little luxuries like a fully equipped kitchen, an ensuite bathroom, proper beds and a fire-pit for alfresco dinners.
Take an amble down the banks of the River Wye or potter into Hay-on-Wye for a blissful getaway.
The Sky Den
Set in the heart of Kielder Water & Forest Park, the Sky Den was built by William Hardie Designs with George Clarke, for the second series of Channel 4’s George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces.
With its opening roof for an unobstructed view of the sky, an open-sided deck platform and glass doors onto a wide balcony, staying in the Sky Den is a real outdoors adventure with views as far as the eye can see. Inside the sky-high space features a functional kitchen with fold-away furniture, a wet room and a viewpoint for coffee and cake over a wood-burning stove.
With a king size bed, fully equipped kitchenette, bathroom, log burning stove and BBQ Hoots Treehouse is a home away from home. Enjoy homemade cake on the decking overlooking the expansive pond or snuggle up by the cosy wood-burner.
Yeworthy Eco-Friendly, Off-Grid Treehouse
Really want to get back to nature? This is the one for you. Nestled in a secluded setting amongst the tree-tops above a lake in South Devon, the Yeworthy Eco-Treehouse is an incredible, completley off-grid retreat, kept cosy with a simple log burner.
Guests have private access to the entire treehouse, lake and the summer house; the perfect spot for a glass of wine in the evening and to watch the sunset.
