Now that the world as we (used to) know it is opening up again, the opportunities to get dressed up have increased ten-fold. From catching up on missed birthday celebrations to actual weddings, our social calendars are looking in a much healthier state of play than they did a few months ago.
But, of course, this means we now need the wardrobe to match. Especially with the weather heating up again, we’ve been thinking a lot about sandals lately, and there’s one style that’s always a winner. Espadrille wedges are a failsafe summer shoe – not only are they versatile enough to go with dresses, skirts and jeans, but they also bring an immediate summery vibe to any dressy outfit as well as elevate a casual weekend look.
Kate Middleton is a fan of wedge espadrilles, having been spotted in a pair of Castañers signature Carina wedges a couple of years ago, and sister-in-law Meghan has also been seen in the brand before.
More recently, JLo paired a pair of hot pink espadrilles with a bikini, naturally, to confirm her romance with Ben Affleck and Klarna just revealed that sales of espadrille wedges in the days after spiked by a whopping 53 per cent. Wow!
If they’re good enough for Kate, Meghan and J.Lo…
Espadrille wedges to wear all summer:
First up is the very good news that Castañer’s signature Carina espadrille wedges are currently in the sale on Matches Fashion with 40 per cent off. They’re not the exact pair Kate wore, but the only real difference is the thickness of the ankle straps.
For essentially a carbon copy of Kate’s Castañer wedges but with a touch more height, Office has a very good dupe pair.
Add some colour with a dash of pink suede (these are also in the sale right now).
For something a little different, MAngo’s chunky platform espadrille wedges feature tan suede and an open-toe.
M&S’s wedges are more like Meghan Markle’s pair of Castañers with the dark navy upper.
Pale beige leather and top-stitching make for a simply lovely shoe.
We’re obsessed with the oh-so-cute scalloped edging on Boden’s green suede wedges.
Mules, but give them an espadrille platform and wedge heel for a minimal take on the trend.
Next’s mustard-toned pair have extra straps and a low heel for all-day comfort.
Add a dash of leopard print to your outfit with these extremely well-priced heels from ASOS.
