If you’re still looking for the perfect destination for your family holiday this summer, then we’ve got just the place.
New research has revealed the most family-friendly city to visit with your kids and loved ones during the summer of 2019, and you won’t even have to travel far to get there.
According to a list curated by travel and resorts booking website Club Med, the Spanish capital of Madrid is the best city for a family holiday this year. The popular destination came out on top, beating other in-demand cities such as London, Amsterdam, Rome and Washington DC.
The result was concluded after Club Med looked at a variety of different countries and examined a list of key factors such as the average costs per day, number of visits from UK residents, volume of family holiday-related social posts published in the last year, the country’s happiness score based on the official World Happiness Report, and the average cost of meals.
Their data showed that Madrid scored the highest on average across all the key factors, coming in at number one for the most visits from UK residents and third for average spend per day, which was £74. Other aspects were equally purse-friendly with the average meal coming in at around £9.50, not to mention a solid happiness score of happiness score of 6.31 out of 10.
Believe it or not, the Spanish city was closely followed by London which ranked second on the list of 25. Although as you can imagine, the average holiday spend per day was significantly higher, almost double that of Madrid in fact, at £119. However, the happiness score of London was quite impressive, earning 6.81 out of 10.
In third place was Paris, while Berlin, Bangkok, Vienna, Budapest, Stockholm, Abu Dhabi and Lisbon all made the top ten for best cities for family holidays in summer 2019.
