The best Big Brother moments of all time

It’s official: Big Brother is returning to screens. If you were one of the 3.4 million viewers watching the Love Island final on Monday night, you may have noticed the iconic Big Brother music and the familiar eye logo for the reality TV show appear during the ad break.

The groundbreaking show is known as being one of the first examples of reality TV, and it was clear from its huge success that this is a format we just can’t get enough of. Big Brother used to be shown on Channel 4, but upon its return in 2023, it will be airing on ITV2 and ITVX. A new cast of housemates will enter the Big Brother house for up to six weeks, with cameras capturing their every move.

So as we gear up to devote yet another portion of our lives to reality TV, why not jog your memory of the best Big Brother moments of all time…

The best Big Brother moments ever

Nikki Grahame’s ‘Who is she?’

It’s been 16 years since the late Nikki Grahame appeared on the seventh series of Big Brother, but her legacy lives on in the form of memes all over the internet. She had many iconic moments while in the house, but one of the most memorable has to be her shouting ‘who is she? Where did you find her?’ in regards to fellow housemate Susie Verrico.

Gemma Collins shouting ‘I’m claustrophobic Darren’

This is another line from the show that’s come into its own as a meme and reaction to basically any situation we can’t be bothered to deal with. Gemma shouted, ‘I’m gamed out. I’ve had enough of playing games’ followed by the iconic ‘I’m claustrophobic Darren,’ which she shouted at fellow housemate Darren Day.

Kim Woodburn’s ‘chicken livered shit’

Fighting and inappropriate language is of course not okay, especially when it becomes aggressive, but there are some instances when it’s caught on television that you can’t help but be sucked in to the drama. One of the biggest rows in Big Brother history comes from How Clean is Your House star Kim Woodburn, when she appeared on the show in 2018. Kim called the other housemates bullies, while shouting: ‘I’ll cross you so badly you’ll regret it for the rest of your lives’. Kim was eventually taken up the stairs by a security guard and removed temporarily from the house to calm down, but not before she called a another housemate ‘a chicken livered shit.’

The wrong David is dead

Oh, how we love a miscommunication on reality TV. In January 2016, David Bowie died and his ex-wife Angie happened to be in the Celebrity Big Brother house at the time. Bosses broke the news to her in the diary room, and Angie eventually shared the news with Tiffany Pollard. However, Tiffany assumed Angie was talking about David Gest, who was another housemate.

Megan McKenna’s ‘hanger’

Look, we get it. When you’re hungry, you’re hungry. Megan McKenna didn’t have the patience for niceties when hunger took over during her series 17 stint and she had a bit of a breakdown about food that she didn’t want to eat. In fact, she shouted: ‘I need to eat…my belly hurts!!!’

Alison Hammond breaking a table

With her successful In The Style clothing collection and presenting role on This Morning, it’s easy to forget Alison first found fame on Big Brother series three. She broke a table as she tried to communicate with ‘security guards’ outside the garden. Brilliant.

Fake celebrity Chantelle

Big Brother loves a secret mission, and Chantelle’s was one of the best. She had to fool the celebrity housemates into thinking she was a famous pop star in a band called Kandy Floss, when really she was just a normal person. She went on to win the 2006 series.

Rylan winning

How far Rylan has come! From his days on X Factor to winning the 2013 series of Big Brother, and now presenting Strictly Come Dancing’s It Takes Two. His reactions are over the top, dramatic, and we wouldn’t want them any other way.
