While May has been a bit of a disaster weather-wise, from this weekend onward and well into June we can finally expect some sunshine. And with that comes the opportunity to visit the coast for sun, sand and sea. With so many options out there however, one thing that may sway your decision on where to go is an Instagrammable beach hut.
We all love a brightly coloured string of huts on the beach, especially when it comes to social media. And research done by Matalan has now revealed which beach huts across the UK are deemed the ‘most Instagrammable’.
The retailer looked into the total posts each beach’s huts had been featured in and came up with a list of the winning five. In the top spot is Southwold in Suffolk, which boasts a huge 22,568 Instagram posts thanks to its beautiful array of neat, well-kept little huts along the shoreline.
The Suffolk spot was closely followed by Whitstable in Kent, which is a well-known favourite among fans of seaside visits. This had 20,644 posts on social media, making it another highly visited spot.
Also in the list was Wells-next-the-sea in Norfolk – in third place with 12,726 posts -, Bude in Cornwall in fourth place (10,840 posts), and Mersea Island, Essex, at fifth (7,144 posts).
As well as the top five, Matalan also released a longer list of other popular spots, which featured favourites such as Hove in Brighton, Scarborough in North Yorkshire and Bournemouth in Dorset.
Speaking about the findings, Interior Design Masters finalist Siobhan Hannah Murphy noted: ‘There’s just something whimsical about beach huts. I love the fact that they tend to be all a similar size and shape but the owners paint and customise them to show their personalities and make them their own.’
