Today marks the beginning of London Fashion Week, a weekend-long celebration of all things chic. And whether you love the celeb spotting, the catwalks or the street style, anyone who has ever experienced the shows before knows that it’s usually a riot of flamboyant colours, prints, patterns and details – more is definitely more.
This season, however, you may notice the presence of something you might not expect: both attendees and models draped in varying shades of beige. S/S 19 has marked the arrival of a decidedly muted palette – think notes of cream, taupe and caramel, layered and worn top to toe, as seen at NYFW (above).
Some of our favourite style icons have already been embracing this type of tonal dressing; the Duchess of Sussex wore an entire outfit of neutrals (including a bargain H&M dress) for her visit to an animal welfare charity in London last month, while Holly Willoughby recently appeared on This Morning in her go-to fashion formula – a fitted top tucked into a midi skirt – in varying shades of beige.
And who are we to argue? It’s classic, effortless and incredibly versatile, and can be worked in anywhere from your holiday wardrobe to your office attire. So, ready to shop?
