There are plenty of exciting TV shows coming our way this autumn – from ITV’s lavish reinvention of Vanity Fair to the BBC’s ongoing hit drama, Bodyguard. And now there’s another highly anticipated BBC crime drama on its way to our small screens, by the name of Killing Eve.
Those who watched recent episodes of Bodyguard will have seen the dramatic trailer debut on BBC One, in which case you’ll understand why everyone is so excited about the show – it looks intense. In fact, Killing Eve already has a huge fan base, after launching on BBC America back in April. But as the show is set to make its UK debut on BBC One, it’s time we got to know what all the hype is about.
What’s the plot?
Created by Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the show follows protagonist Eve, a MI5 office worker who has an obsession with female killers, as she becomes convinced that the latest group assassination is the work of a woman. Determined to take matters into her own hands, Eve heads up her own secret team to hunt down an elusive assassin named Villanelle.
The two get caught up in a game of cat and mouse and as you can expect, things take a turn as the show promises to ‘turn the traditional spy thriller on its head.’ You can look forward to both thrilling drama and hilarious moments courtesy of Waller-Bridge.
Who is in the cast?
Grey’s Anatomy fans, rejoice. The lovely Sandra Oh will be at taking centre stage as protagonist, Eve, while Doctor Foster star Jodie Comer does an exceptional job of playing the show’s inciting villain, Villanelle. Fans of The Bridge will also recognise Kim Bodnia as the Danish actor takes the role of Villanelle’s manager and father figure, Konstantin. Fiona Shaw from Harry Potter also stars as the socially awkward Carolyn Martens.
When is the UK air date?
Killing Eve starts on BBC One on Saturday 15th September at 9.15pm, and will be available on BBC iPlayer as a box set on the 15th of September.
