The chicest autumn wreaths to hang on your door this October

Hanging a wreath on our door was once an activity reserved solely for Christmas – having a lovely inviting display on the front door acted as a festive welcome, and proved you were getting into the spirit of the season. But these days, wreaths aren’t just for December time; in fact, over the years, autumn wreaths have grown in popularity, and can now be spotted hanging on all of Instagram’s chicest doors.

Autumn wreath 🍂🌾🍁 One of my demos from yesterday’s 1-1 wreath making workshop where we explored two mechanics moss base and oasis exploring the pros and cons for each and enjoying the space to just be creative. I shared a post in my stories yesterday that really resonated with me because so often we fixate on the end product of our creativity but actually it’s the doing and what that does to our souls that can make a difference. Getting lost in the process and being creative is what lifts me and makes me a better person to be around. So if you feel the need to get lost in something creative too, something just for you feel free to get in touch. I have a lovely huge workshop and there is an abundance of gorgeous autumn materials around right now that we can play with x . . . #wreath #autumnwreath #autumnwreaths #wreathworkshop #autumnwreathworkshop #oxfordshirewreathworkshop #makeyourown #wreathwatch #wreathsofinstagram #oxfordshireflorist #theflowerfairies

Autumn wreaths are distinctly different from their most established Christmas counterparts, with rich orange and green colour schemes, berries and sticks, and various textures all common features. They have less of a ‘sparkle’ feel and more of an understated, classy, warm vibe that stands for everything October really represents.

There are also some great Halloween options out there too, if you’re a huge fan of spooky celebrations come October 31st.

Either way, we reckon this year autumn wreaths will really take off, and Mrs Hinch’s latest stories certainly seem to solidify this theory. Sophie Hinchliffe shared the process of hand making her very own autumnal wreath, which she designed in the shape of a heart for an extra special feel.

She commented: ‘I’ve just put my wreath on guys, I love it. I can’t believe it survived in the loft for a year. And I made it, so it wasn’t exactly the sturdiest of things, but I love it. Absolutely love it.’

Like Hinchliffe, you can always try and give your own homemade wreath a go — there are plenty of online tutorials that will show you the way.

However, if artsy creations aren’t usually your thing, you can always buy a ready-made wreath from the likes of Etsy, John Lewis, and Amazon. Here are a selection of our current favourites.
