A cocktail chair, or accent chair, is a great way to inject a bit of colour, fun and sophistication to an interior, be that in the corner of a bedroom, in the living room or hallway.
Popular as they may be however, they can also be quite pricy. One particular favourite of shoppers (ourselves included) is Oliver Bonas’ pink velvet scalloped chair, which retails for £395. Beautiful, but not exactly the bargain homeware find we’re usually after.
Luckily, other more purse-friendly retailers have picked up on the trend and have been producing their own versions of the plush accent chair. You’ll likely be acquainted with Aldi’s pink velvet scalloped chair – at just £79.99, the retailer struggles to keep it on stock and it regularly sells out within days, sometimes hours, of its release.
B&M has also released their own blush-toned copycat version for £100, but the latest to join in on the trend is another supermarket. Asda only launched furniture within its George Home line earlier this year, but already they’re getting in on the hottest trends with their take on the pink velvet cocktail chair.
Sitting upon wooden legs, the pale pink velvet upholstery and subtle scalloped back support is more than a nod to Oliver Bonas’ original chair. At £75, this is a whole £320 cheaper, but still oozes all the same glamorous style that will perk up any room.
If neither of those take your fancy, you might be interested in Oliver Bonas’ updated version of the velvet chair, the Ola Tub Chair. It features the same wooden and gold-accented legs and dusty-pink velvet upholstery, but contrasted with beige linen and thy’ve done away with the scallop edges to make way for a sleeker, simpler design.
