Lauded cook and food writer Skye McAlpine has collaborated with Anthropologie to create a capsule collection of beautifully unique and affordable tableware.
Author of A Table in Venice and now also A Table for Friends, which was released just earlier this month, Skye lives between Venice and London and shares her love of good, simple Italian food and ideas for entertaining and home decor via her bog and social media. So it only made sense that the foodie would create a range of tableware that perfectly encapsulates her European lifestyle.
The 13-piece collection includes crockery, serving dishes, sharing platters and even a cake stand, among other things. While some pieces boast a contemporary turquoise and white splatter paint pattern that’s reminiscent of swimming pools or the ocean, others bear intricate, vintage-looking Venetian-inspired floral designs.
Taking to Instagram to announce the collaboration, Skye said: ‘I’ve dreamed of creating my own tableware for forever, largely because I have eternal faith in the quasi-magical power of a pretty plate to make even the simplest food look beautiful and feel special.’
She continued: ‘The plates and glasses that I use day to day are mostly vintage, they’re pieces I’ve collected over the years from charity shops and flea markets: my most treasured ones are the inspiration for this collection.
‘Just as no two vintage finds ever look the same, I wanted each mug, plate and bowl to carry its own story, so for the decoration I drew on the Language of Flowers. Each little flower on each piece holds its own special meaning, whether that’s lilac for happy memories or forget-me-nots for everlasting friendship.’
Prices start from just £14 and every piece is under £100 making it totally affordable – and highly covetable. Be still our beating hearts…
