There’s a clear trend emerging from Marks & Spencer’s bestsellers

Do you remember that period in 2019 when you couldn’t move for animal print satin midi skirts? Well, it turns out we weren’t just having a phase – animal print is still going strong. In fact, if M&S’s bestselling fashion is anything to go by, it’s having a post-lockdown resurgence.

While much of what we wore for the last couple of years was fairly neutral and bland, fashion is having a maximalist moment right now, and what better way to mark that than with all-over leopard print?

Currently among M&S’s bestsellers is a red, leopard print midi dress, which is available in plenty of stores, even if you can’t find your size online (as are many of the other items listed). It would look great with a denim jacket and white trainers for casual summer days, and the ruched waist is particularly flattering.

Other items causing a sensation for the retailer include a pair of wide leg trousers (another big trend ticked there), which are – you guessed it – full on animal print. They cost £29.50, which is a pretty good price if you’re keen to dip a toe (or leg) into the trend. Keep things simple on top with a plain crew-neck T-shirt or cami top.

Of course, an animal print top is a really easy way to try this look – Marks & Spencer’s offerings include a loose blouse (£29.50) – great for tucking in to high-waisted trousers – and a blue leopard print T-shirt (£15), which we imagine many people will be packing for their summer holidays this year.

It’s worth noting that this is a trend many of us will be able to shop from our own wardrobes – if you’ve got a little animal print number already hiding out in there, then now is the time to give it a post-lockdown dust off and show the world your wild side again…
