If it wasn’t already, then Dry January is now officially cancelled because everyone’s favourite budget wine and bubbles expert Aldi has launched a brand new low-calorie prosecco. And quite frankly, that alone is worth popping a bottle open for.
The supermarket has introduced the game-changing new booze – named La Gioiosa Colleziona Oro Prosecco – on its UK shelves, with stores across the country now stocking the reduced-calorie fizz.
The special prosecco has an impressive 120 calories fewer than the average bottle of bubbles, with each glass only amounting to 63 calories. This means we can now all indulge in a cheeky glass of fizz with less impact on our healthy lifestyle goals, and avoid that horrible bloated feeling that usually accompanies a hangover the next day. Sounds like a win, win.
As always, Aldi’s new low-cal prosecco comes with a generous price tag. You can get your hands on a bottle for just £9. Surely, this calls of a celebration!
This isn’t the first time a retailer has launched low calorie prosecco. The concept of ‘skinny prosecco’ (as it was controversially refereed to at the time) became a huge phenomenon a few years ago. However, it wasn’t the easiest thing to get a hold of as no supermarkets were stocking it in the UK. Instead, keen customers would have to order it on Amazon.
Last September, Aldi launched another alternative prosecco – a ‘hangover free’ organic rosé prosecco priced at just £7.99.
Sourced from the Corvezzo family’s 150-hectare estate, 30 km north-east of Venice, the wine was produced without the use of pesticides or herbicides and all the grapes used were hand picked. At the time, Aldi explained that launch was ‘in response to the rise of health-conscious consumerism, which has seen demand for organic and no added sulphur options hit an all-time high [in 2018].’
