Aldi and Morrisons launch ice lollies and ice cream for dogs

When the weather heats up, we dream of lazing in the park or maybe even taking a road trip to the seaside for the day – and of course, ice cream has to be involved on any warm summer’s day.

There’s nothing quite like a Mr Whippy in the sunshine, but we often feel bad for our canine friends who can’t enjoy the same cold treat in the heat (bar the odd lick if they’re lucky!).

However, they needn’t miss out any more, because Aldi has launched its first ice cream for dogs, making it the first supermarket to do so – and therefore the favoured supermarket of dogs everywhere. The brand new Beechdean Doggy Ice Cream will be available in two flavours fit for any pooch: Pea & Vanilla and Apple & Carrot. The 100 per cent plant-based ice cream is made with real fruit and vegetables, making it a perfectly healthy snack that will keep your four-legged friend cool in hot weather.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: ‘With more of our customers now owning dogs, we’re delighted to launch a nutritious and tasty treat that will help keep dogs cool in the heat. Being the first UK supermarket to launch a dog-friendly ice cream comes just in time for summer as we look forward to the warm weather.’

Aldi‘s ice cream for dogs is available to pick up in stores nationwide from 16 June for £2.99 for a pack of four. But hurry, because the pooch-friendly ice cream is an Aldi Specialbuy so it won’t stick around on the shelves forever!

And, it looks as though sweet summer treats for dogs is about to become a serious market as Morrisons follows suit with the launch of a dog ice lolly! Costing £5 for a pack of 6, the Woof & Brew Ice Pops are made with natural ingredients – they usually retail on Amazon for £6 a pack, so Morrisons is offering customers a great launch deal that’s not to be missed.
