You may have spotted this week that M&S has released a new version of their bestselling glitter globe gin liqueur in a brand new delicious flavour: cherry blossom. The supermarket regularly brings out new varieties of the 23-carat gold leaf-infused tipple (such as the incredible light up bottle they released at Christmas), but they’re always limited edition meaning they don’t stick around forever.
If you were a big fan of last summer’s now-discontinued edition, which was an elderflower gin liqueur, you might not have to totally wave goodbye to it just yet. Aldi is bringing out its own version of the glittering spirit, much to the delight of gin lovers everywhere.
Also infused with flecks of edible 23-carat gold leaf, Aldi’s peach and elderflower flavoured gin liqueur is comparable to M&S’s original, but will save shoppers over 13 per cent as it costs £12.99 compared to the £15 M&S price tag.
Elderflower Gin Liqueur Glitter Globe, £15, M&S (discontinued)
Part of Aldi’s The Infusionist range (and the supermarket’s wider selection of alcohol dupes), the eye-catching bottle is a welcome arrival to the drinks aisle – and our at-home bar carts. A versatile spirit, it can be enjoyed as part of a variety of gin-based cocktails, or try it mixed with Prosecco and soda water. Alternatively, go for a classic and pair with tonic water and plenty of ice for a refreshing G&T with a fruity and fragrant twist. Whichever way you enjoy it, your drink will be given an extra hint of pizazz as the gold flakes swirl around your glass.
The Aldi glitter gin liqueur will be available to pick up in stores and online from 25 April, just in time for the start of BBQ and picnic season – and of course a summer of dining and entertaining in the garden. Cocktail shakers at the ready…
