With gin reigning supreme as many a Brit’s preferred tipple of choice for yet another year, flavoured gins have become commonplace on the supermarket shelves. And at this time of year, that means just one thing: Christmas gins.
Having already combined two of our favourite things with their recent launch of Prosecco Rosé, Aldi also leads the way in the Christmas gin department, and for 2020 that’s looking no different with their launch of several new festive-flavoured gins and gin liqueurs that have just hit the shelves.
Let’s start with the hugely popular Infusionist range, the star of which has got to be the Millionaire’s Shortbread Gin Liqueur. As fans of both the classically indulgent sweet treat and gin, we’re intrigued to see how the two pair together. With hints of caramel and chocolate, this rich, creamy, velvety gin liqueur is recommended as the ideal boozy alternative (or addition) to dessert.
The aptly named Northern Lights Gin Liqueur shimmers to create a magical effect within your glass, perfect for those festive Instagrammable moments. The flavour is described as Winter Berry Blast, with notes of juicy dark fruits and tart cranberries and undertones of sloe berry and juniper.
Next up is the Icy Blueberry Gin Liqueur: with herbaceous sweet flavours of juicy blueberries and delicate hints of aromatic fresh peppermint, this is a frosty twist on a fruity liqueur. Just as delicious neat straight out of the fridge or with ice and tonic.
The Sloe & Elderberry Gin Liqueur combines the classical wintery flavours of rich, warming sloe berries and the mellow fruitiness of elderberries for a truly festive tipple.
And last but not least in the Infusionist range, the classic British desert of apple crumble is reimagined as a boozy tipple in the Apple Crumble Gin Liqueur, where luscious caramel tones mix with crisp green apple flavours.
Four new gins also join the fantastic Haysmith’s range, including a Mulled Winterberry Gin, which expertly intertwines the delicious notes of juicy dark berries and citrus with the warming flavours of cinnamon for a complex taste.
There’s also a Spiced Plum & Clementine Gin – an elegantly smooth and refreshing taste with warm spiced notes and rich plum flavours followed by a sweet clementine finish.
The Spiced Apple and Ginger Gin sounds equally compelling with mouthwatering notes of juicy red apple mixed with hints of fiery ginger.
And for those looking to abstain for the booze this Christmas, a bottle of the Non-Alcoholic Rhubard and Ginger will go down a treat – bursting with fruity rhubarb, spicy ginger and classic juniper for that quintessential gin taste but with 0% alcohol and a low calorie content to boot.
The whole Aldi festive gin and gin liqueur range is available to buy online and in stores now.
