There are few better feelings in life than snuggling up in a fresh set of bedsheets, but that’s an experience that doesn’t always come cheap. The type of high thread counts and Egyptian cotton fabrics you’d find in a swanky hotel usually come at a premium, with the price of luxury sets often hitting the triple figure mark.
Thank heavens then for Aldi, whose new deluxe bedding range arrives in stores and online this week, and starts from £19.99 for a double duvet and two pillows – making that crisp and cosy experience suddenly feel a whole lot more attainable.
The main attraction is the new line of Kirkton House Sateen duvet sets, which have a 300 thread count, are made from 100 per cent cotton, and come in a choice of four different colours: white, a piped pale grey, a darker grey, and a rich charcoal. Prices start from £19.99 for a double, rising to £24.99 for a king and £29.99 for a super king size, and there’s equally purse-friendly fitted sheets to go beneath them too.
The edit is so impressive that the experts at Ideal Home are already comparing it to The White Company’s Savoy bed linen collection, which starts at £20 for a pillowcase, and can cost upwards of £90 for a set. While the two aren’t identical – TWC’s 400 thread count and Egyptian cotton credentials are not to be disputed – Aldi’s affordable alternative is ideal if you’re shopping on a budget but want a similar look and feel.
But the range doesn’t stop at sheets – while the duvets are undoubtedly the stars of the show, and already selling fast on the brand’s website, Aldi is helping us to introduce even more tactile winter textures into our homes with the addition of accessories including a chunky knitted bedspread and oversized velvet pillows.
Here’s everything you can look forward to when the collection lands in stores on 19 November (or you can beat the crowds and place your online pre-order now).
