This £5.99 charcoal face mask is being hailed as a dupe for a £42 product

If you’re a fan of a face mask, you’ll know that it can be something of an expensive habit.

The cost of a good mask can sometimes climb all the way up into triple digits, and whilst it’s lovely to invest in a pot of luxury from time to time, it’s even better if you can find a reliable product that does the job for a fraction of the price – especially if you can pick it up on a trip to the supermarket.

Budget favourite Aldi’s new Lacura Charcoal Clearing Mud Mask retails at just £5.99, but is said to be comparable to high-end face masks – in particular, GLAMGLOW’s popular Supermud Clearing Treatment, which sells for £42.

Aldi’s charcoal face mask promises to clarify and balance problem skin, absorbing excess sebum oils and minimising the appearance of pores and imperfections. It contains glycolic acids, which help to gently exfoliate your skin, as well as extracts of coconut, bamboo and eucalyptus oil.

Whilst it’s not a direct like-for-like of the GLAMGLOW product, there are some similarities in terms of ingredients, and the Supermud Clearing Treatment also claims to help to tackle skin concerns and create the appearance of poreless skin. For a £36 saving, it’s certainly worth giving the Aldi tub a try.

The Lacura Charcoal Mud Mask is the latest in a string of beauty offerings from Aldi that are renowned as equivalents to well-know beauty brands – their £3.99 Lacura Hot Cloth Cleanser, for instance, is believed by fans to be just as good as the famed Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser, which will set you back £14.50.

The only bad news? The mud mask has already been snapped up by so many budget savvy beauty lovers that it’s sold out online. We’re praying for a restock, stat, but until then you can still get it in your local store whilst stocks last – race you to the tills…
