This £6.50 hyaluronic acid serum sells one every three minutes

Hyaluronic acid: it’s the eternally trending skincare ingredient that continues to wow everyone from celebrity facialists to professional dermatologists. The ultra-hydrating gold standard ingredient is known to hold nearly 1000 times its weight in water, making it a must-have for dry or dehydrated complexions. In fact, it’s excellent for all skin types, and a staple in any regime.

The great news too is that hyaluronic acid really isn’t expensive, especially when you know where to buy it from. Brands such as The Ordinary and The Inkey List have normalised more affordable formulas that work just as well as their more expensive counterparts, and it’s now widely available wherever you look. One formula that’s become incredibly popular of late is the one by British brand Q+A, which now sells the equivalent of one every three minutes.

The affordable buy is just £6.50, and offers a no frills approach to using hyaluronic acid without breaking the bank. As well as its star ingredient, it contains betaine, which is a fellow humectant (which attracts moisture) and also an anti-inflammatory. Betaine also works well with hyaluronic to ensure the texture of the product is never sticky or tacky, and goes on like a dream.

Speaking of application, the brand recommends applying their serum onto damp skin rather than dry complexions, as this helps the hydrating properties even more so. It can be used in the morning and evening, after cleansing and before moisturiser or SPF.

One of the biggest draws of this product (along with the appealing price) is that it has a 98 per cent natural make up and is cruelty-, alcohol- and fragrance-free.

Q+A’s bestseller has over 200 reviews on its website, with fans rating it five stars overall. ‘This is the best value hyaluronic acid I’ve tried and it’s made my skin more hydrated,’ wrote one fan. Another added: ‘This gorgeous serum leaves my skin feeling super soft and hydrated without being too oily. It absorbs quickly and has a lasting moisturising effect.’
