London Fashion Week is upon us, and it isn’t just the most exciting week in the fashion calendar, it’s the busiest. Editors everywhere are currently pulling together a carefully-curated survival kit that will get them through hundreds of shows with their style, feet, skin and sanity intact.
See below for the YOU fashion team’s must haves.
An on-the-go snack
With very little time between shows, snacking is essential for keeping our energy up – and what better than a nibble that tastes naughty, but isn’t?
A statement dress
With early mornings and late finishes, an easy outfit that does all the talking is a necessity. A simple dress with a bold print only needs a few minimal accessories before you have an effortless yet street style-worthy look.
A coat for all weathers
February and September are unpredictable months when it comes to weather, so no matter what outfit we have planned (or manically put together in the morning) we always make sure we have a practical yet stylish coat with us. You can’t go wrong with a trench.
A Mary Poppins bag
It’s surprising how much stuff we have to lug around with us – from tickets (which can come in some odd shapes and sizes) to schedules, water and chunky portable chargers, a small hand bag just won’t cut it. Which is why when we find a decent sized one with a stylish edge, we know it’s a keeper.
It’s very likely that we’ll be on our feet for most of the day. A lot of the shows aren’t seated, there’s a lot of walking to be done and as lovely as heels look, they’re just not realistic. A pair of trainers or flats are a must: we either work our outfit around them, or keep them in our bags to change into between shows.
The skin detox
Our skin and pores have a rough time of it over fashion week, so we always make sure we’re stocked up on good cleaners that tackle pollution particles.
The stylish car
It truly is impossible to get from one show venue to another on time by any form of transport other than car. With the Volvo XC90 having an electric-only mode, we can travel around London on zero emissions, and the smartphone-style control screen helps us with everything from speedy parking to the quickest route.
